About Drug Rehabilitation
Spending some time in an in-patient drug rehabilitation clinic is generally accepted to be the most effective way to overcome addiction and dependency. This is because you can receive a medically supervised detox and full therapeutic rehabilitation programme in a safe and supportive environment. Drug rehab can offer you everything you need to get your life back on track, including detox, therapy, life skills, accommodation, catering and complementary therapies.

Drug rehabilitation clinics vary in location, methodology, size and cost, and offer a variety of treatment programmes that can be individually tailored to ensure you get the best possible treatment for your personal circumstances. Steps2Rehab will help find the right drug rehabilitation treatment centre to suit you.

Why choose an in-patient Drug Rehabilitation Centre?
Addiction has many elements and a residential treatment centre can offer you support with the medical, psychological and social aspects of your recovery. Choosing to enter into an in-patient drug rehab will allow you to recover in a safe, confidential and appropriate environment for the problems that you have been experiencing. Much anxiety about getting into recovery is relieved by the knowledge that the staff and your fellow peers in a rehab clinic understand what you are going through and can help you to get well. Experienced and qualified staff are usually on hand 24 hours a day, providing you with constant support as you progress through your programme and develop life strategies that enable you to cope with the changes you are likely to experience after your drug rehab programme. The support and safe environment provided at drug treatment centres has been designed to aid you throughout your entire stay in treatment.

How will Drug Rehabilitation help?
In treatment your day is suitably structured to help you get the most of the programme. Each day in treatment will help you take steps towards a concrete recovery, helping you to address not just the physical addiction, but also the underlying psychological reasons that are motivating your drug use. In a drug rehab clinic you will experience a collective approach to get you well, both from the staff and the other clients who are there to get into recovery; we avoid using those drug rehab clinics where the patients are unwilling to participate or have been sent into rehab by the courts as a way of avoiding a custodial sentence. There are medical staff to support you comfortably through your detox, therapists and counsellors to help you address the psychological aspects of your addiction and other professionals to help you look after your nutritional needs and health. Often additional therapeutic activities are available to add to your treatment experience and give you a range of resources to help you work towards your goals and to aid your ongoing recovery after leaving the drug rehab clinic.

Having both staff and peers who can offer you a multifaceted support structure permits you to use a wide range of resources to help you overcome your drug addiction and start to live free from the constraints of your substance abuse. Through this process you can develop the personal resources and strategies you will need to help you live successfully in recovery when you finish your stay. The benefits of having drug professionals and peers who really understand what you are going through and are experienced in helping people recover is key to the success of in-patient drug rehabilitation clinics.

Drug Rehabilitation

Drug Rehabilitation - A problem shared
Collective goals, mutual experiences and someone to share your experiences with are considered to be fundamental for long-term recovery. These are things that out-patient treatment, day-care and counselling, no matter how intense, cannot achieve. Addressing your individual problems and replacing them with a motivational and outward looking environment is the main aim of an in-patient drug rehab, and one that really makes residential rehab the only valid option if you want to start your life of recovery with the best possible chance of staying well in the long term.

How long do I need to be there to achieve the best results?
Success, in terms of long-term abstinence, is usually linked to the duration of treatment. We advise a minimum of 4 weeks and ideally 6 weeks. Relapse rates soar for treatments of less than 4 weeks and complicated detoxes sometimes need a minimum of 2 weeks to ensure you are fully detoxed. For those under 25 we would tend to recommend at least 6 weeks, and ideally 12 weeks, although it depends on so many other factors that it is best for the clinic to advise you on how long you will need and this could change as you go through the programme.

Detox alone is unlikely to result in long-term recovery. This is because important psychological work must be completed to help the individual understand their addiction and develop strategies to avoid future relapse. Whilst detox is vital for many individuals and most drugs, it is not always a necessary step in order to maintain a long-term recovery. And certain drugs do not require a medicated detox. The drug rehab specialist staff will advise you.

Combined alcohol and drug rehabilitation
Many addicts are using a cocktail of drug and alcohol. It is vital in these circumstances that you read the alcohol rehabilitation pages along with this page.
